Leuze PRK5B – Polarized Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Sensor, Series 5B
The Leuze PRK5B is the upgraded Series 5B retro-reflective sensor featuring
Leuze's Power PinPoint® LED technology — a focused red LED beam (645 nm) that
delivers a clean, visible light spot for easier alignment during installation.
It works on the polarized reflection principle: the sensor bounces a beam off a
separate reflector and detects objects that interrupt the light path. Polarization
filtering means shiny, glossy, or semi-transparent surfaces won't cause false
triggers — a common problem with standard retro-reflective sensors.
With a guaranteed operating range of 0.02 to 6 m (using TK(S) 100x100 reflector),
1,000 Hz switching frequency, and ECOLAB-certified material compatibility, this
sensor handles everything from high-speed packaging conveyors to food processing
washdown environments. The compact 11 × 32.4 × 20 mm PC-ABS housing weighs just
20 grams — easy to mount even in tight spaces.

Where This Sensor Is Used
The PRK5B's combination of long range (6 m), high speed (1,000 Hz), and ECOLAB
compatibility makes it well-suited for beverage filling lines, dairy and food
packaging conveyors, pharmaceutical blister lines, carton/box detection,
intralogistics sorting, palletizing systems, and general factory automation.
The polarized optics are particularly useful where reflective packaging materials
(shrink wrap, foil, glossy cartons) would cause false triggers with standard
sensors.
What's in the Box
Sensor unit only — includes the PRK5B photoelectric sensor
with 200 mm M8 pigtail cable. The reflector is NOT included and must be ordered
separately. Leuze recommends the
TK(S) 100x100 reflector for
the full 6 m operating range. Mounting is via two M3 threaded sleeves or optional
